Ambarish submitted a business plan to an e-business competition, proposing to connect women to the internet for free, which saw him win £10,000, allowing him to launch Women Infoline and start his career in tech. In 1999 he obtained a BA in International Business Administration before earning an MSc in Science, Ecommerce Management and Organisational Behaviour at the Birkbeck University of London. Ambarish joined Defra as an IT Consultant in 2000, followed by the position of E-Commerce Manager at Farlows Limited.
In 2006 he became Head of Product Development at Isango! before landing a breakthrough position at AXA Insurance as a Web Strategist. He was elevated to Head of Innovation at AXA Insurance in 2010, where he was responsible for developing the FreeSwapSell app to reduce landfill by providing people with a platform to give away, swap or sell unwanted goods.
