Azeem Azhar is the Co-Chair of the Global Futures Council on Complex Risks at the World Economic Forum and an internationally renowned authority on AI and exponential technologies. The prominent futurist attended the University of Oxford in 1990, earning an MA in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics. During his studies, he was the Editor of The Oxford Student, The Oxford Handbook, and the University Magazine, experiences that later helped him establish one of the leading tech newsletters, Exponential View, which boasts over 187,000 subscribers. In 1994, he joined The Guardian as a Correspondent, launching Go2, the Guardian’s first editorial website. Becoming Business Correspondent at The Economist in 1996, he covered topics such as the Internet, software, and technology and launched one of the first paid-for websites in the world.

In 1997, he landed the role of Strategy Manager at the BBC, focusing on BBC Online’s formation and launch. Azeem became CEO at eSouk in 1999, an Internet incubator, before becoming Chief Marketing Officer at Alber Inc. He joined the business advisory firm, Oxmedia as a Partner, working with pioneering start-ups in technology and emerging markets. In 2005, he joined Reuters as Head of Innovation before founding PeerIndex, using machine learning and data sets to help companies identify the things influencing their consumers. After the acquisition of PeerIndex by Brandwatch, he joined the Financial Times as Columnist, writing on the Future of Work. Azeem is also the bestselling author of Exponential and The Exponential Age.

Other notable roles held by Azeem include Vice President of Schibsted Media Group, Senior Advisor at Accenture, and Fellow at the RSA. Azeem also served as an Advisory Board Member at the Harvard Business Review and on the Board of Directors for Cronycle. Host of one of the leading technological podcasts, Exponential View, Azeem has featured distinguished guests, including Tony Blair, Yuval Harari, Stuart Russell, and Reid Hoffman.
