Rebooting AI: Building Artificial Intelligence We Can Trust
Linear Algebra and Probability for Computer Science Applications

Ernest Davis is the Professor of Computer Science at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, New York University. A world-leading authority on AI, he speaks eloquently on the limits of AI and explores the notion of reliable and trustable AI. Ernest is a distinguished academic who has served as Editor of prestigious journals, including the Artificial Intelligence Journal. He co-authored the bestselling Rebooting AI: Building Artificial Intelligence We Can Trust with Emeritus Professor of Psychology and Neural Science Gary Marcus. Now sharing his vast expertise in AI, deep learning and machine learning, Ernest is a highly sought-after speaker.

Educated at renowned institutions, Ernest holds a BSc in Mathematics from MIT and a PhD in Computer Science from Yale University. He began his career as a Calculus Tutor at the Math Department at MIT. Ernest then became a Program Analyst at the Computer Graphics Department at CE Lummus Inc, Bloomfield, before joining Yale University as a Teaching Assistant, followed by Research Assistant at the Computer Science Department. Ernest became an Assistant Professor at the Computer Science Department, New York University in 1983, followed by Associate Professor in 1989, and Professor in 2008, a role he currently holds.

For his accomplished work in computer science, Ernest has received honours, including Outstanding Program Committee Member and Knowledge Representation and Reasoning Distinguished Lecturer. He also received an IBM Graduate Fellowship and NSF Graduate Fellowship. An eminent scholar, he has published several peer-reviewed articles and served as Co-Chair of the Tenth Symposium on Logical Formalisations of Commonsense Reasoning at Stanford University and the International Workshop on Spatio-Temporal Dynamics, among others. Ernest is also a member of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence.

An authority on commonsense reasoning for AI, he has contributed thought leadership articles to notable publications, including the MIT Technology Review and The New York Times and is the author of Linear Algebra and Probability for Computer Science Applications. Warning against putting excessive trust in AI technologies, in his speaking engagements, Ernest examines the current state of AI, explores its limitations and inspects the principles behind building reliable and trustable AI. One of the leading figures in AI, Ernest Davis, is a highly prized speaker to hire.
