The Engaged Customer

Hans Peter Brøndmo is a pioneering force at the intersection of artificial intelligence, robotics, and human-centred technology. Known for founding Alphabet’s Everyday Robots project and serving as its CEO, Hans Peter has dedicated his career to transforming science fiction into practical innovation. As an AI keynote speaker, he brings decades of experience in emerging technologies, offering an informed, global perspective on how intelligent machines will reshape the future of work, society, and human identity.

Born in Maine and raised in Norway, Hans Peter’s early career began at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he conducted research at CERN and joined the MIT Media Lab. There, he was involved in early interactive storytelling and media technologies, later co-founding DiVA – the first commercial spin-off from the Media Lab – bringing desktop digital video editing to everyday users. DiVA was acquired by Avid Technology, where Hans Peter served as CTO. He went on to found Post Communications, a pioneering email marketing firm based on user permission and control, which was later acquired by Netcentives. Throughout the 2000s, he launched and led multiple technology start-ups including Plum, a private social networking platform acquired by Nokia.

Hans Peter’s career took a pivotal turn when he joined Google X (now simply X, The Moonshot Factory) in 2016. There, he led a robotics overhaul, culminating in the launch of Everyday Robots, one of Alphabet’s most ambitious AI-meets-robotics initiatives. As Vice President and General Manager, and later CEO, Hans Peter led the development of autonomous, general-purpose helper robots capable of learning and adapting to unstructured environments. The project embodied his vision of “robots that help people” — not in abstract, but through real-world deployments. With over half a billion dollars invested, Everyday Robots represented a new frontier in embodied AI. His leadership in the field is further recognised through multiple US patents, congressional testimonies on digital privacy, and authorship of the New York Times bestselling book, ‘The Engaged Customer’.

As a speaker, Hans Peter brings a rare blend of technical depth, entrepreneurial spirit, and philosophical clarity. He has addressed audiences across the globe, including MIT, Cambridge University, and the US Senate, and has advised tech giants and policy institutions like Meta and the European Commission. His talks are thought-provoking, accessible, and always forward-looking — helping audiences explore how AI will redefine work, community, and what it means to be human.
