Sir John Sawers

Sir John Sawers is one of the world’s most respected voices on artificial intelligence, cyber security and geopolitics. John began his career with the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) in 1977 before moving into diplomacy with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, serving in Yemen, Syria, South Africa and Washington. He became Foreign Affairs Adviser to Prime Minister Tony Blair, helping to shape UK policy during pivotal moments such as the Kosovo conflict and the Northern Ireland peace process. From 2001 to 2003 he served as HM Ambassador to Egypt, later becoming Director-General for Political Affairs and then UK Ambassador to the United Nations.
