Matt Clifford

Matt Clifford is a renowned keynote speaker on artificial intelligence, technology, and the future of work. As the co-founder and Chair of Entrepreneur First (EF), he leads the world’s premier talent investor, responsible for creating startups now valued at over $11 billion. Entrepreneur First connects exceptional individuals, helping them find co-founders, develop ideas, and secure funding from top investors. Among EF’s alumni are notable companies like Tractable, Cleo, and Accurx, underscoring Matt’s pivotal role in fostering global innovation.

In addition to his work at EF, Matt serves as Chair of ARIA (Advanced Research and Invention Agency), a UK government initiative with an £800 million budget to fund groundbreaking research and development. His influence extends to national AI policy; in 2024, he was commissioned to create an AI Action Plan for the UK. His efforts reflect a deep commitment to harnessing AI’s transformative potential while addressing its challenges, cementing his reputation as a leading voice in the field. In 2025, Matt was appointed Adviser to the Prime Minister on AI Opportunities, following the publishing of his AI Opportunities Action Plan. In 2023, he was the UK Prime Minister’s Representative for the AI Safety Summit at Bletchley Park, where he led critical negotiations and preparations. He also contributed to designing the UK Frontier AI Taskforce, now the AI Safety Institute, where he serves as Vice Chair of the Advisory Board. Recognised for his leadership, Matt was awarded a CBE in 2024 for services to AI, following his MBE in 2016 for contributions to business.

He co-founded Code First Girls, an organisation dedicated to empowering women in tech, and serves on boards such as the Kennedy Memorial Trust and Accurx.
