Nita Farahany

Nita Farahany is an authority in the fields of law, philosophy, and emerging technologies. Currently the Robinson O. Everett Professor of Law & Philosophy at Duke University, she is also the Founding Director of Duke Science & Society and Principal Investigator of the SLAP Lab. Her early career featured pivotal roles such as a Law Clerk for Hon. Judith W. Rogers and Fellow and Instructor in Law at Vanderbilt University. By 2006, she had obtained an ALM in Biology & Neuroscience from Harvard Extension School and an MA and PhD in Philosophy from Duke University. She was appointed by President Obama as a Member of the Presidential Commission for the Study of Bioethical Issues in 2010 and has since delivered a TED talk on neurotechnology’s societal impacts, which reached global audiences in 2018. Her book, The Battle for Your Brain, published in 2023, has been hailed as a seminal work on the implications of neurotechnology. Her accolades include the Paul M.
