Ray’s career reflects a unique blend of academic excellence and commercial leadership. He holds a Master of Arts from Oxford and an MBA from INSEAD, foundations that shaped his interdisciplinary approach to AI. Early in his career, he held senior roles at L.E.K. Consulting, later becoming Managing Director of its German office, before moving into entrepreneurship as CEO of a software start-up. His trajectory accelerated when he joined Accenture, where he spent over a decade leading major AI and data transformation programmes across industries including finance, healthcare and retail.
During his time at Accenture, Ray held several influential leadership roles, including Managing Director of Applied Intelligence UK & Ireland and Global Head of Responsible AI. One of his most significant achievements was designing and implementing a global AI compliance programme spanning 750,000 employees across 120 countries, setting a benchmark for enterprise AI governance. He also helped commercialise early AI fairness tools and advised Fortune 100 organisations, governments and regulators on responsible AI strategy. Today, he is the Founder of Lumyz Advisory, providing specialist consultancy on AI governance and risk, and serves as a Senior Adviser for Responsible AI at Accenture alongside his role as a Senior Research Associate at Jesus College, Cambridge.
