Robert Hannigan

Robert Hannigan is a revered cyber security expert who has worked within both the public and private sectors. The current Chairman for BlueVoyant, Robert’s expertise have previously been requested by none other than the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom for his uncanny ability to ensure the highest levels of cyber security are present throughout the UK. With over two decades worth of experience in cyber security, Robert’s knowledge has been requested all over the world by companies wanting to transform their security.

Robert began his stellar career in cyber security at 10 Downing Street as the Security Advisor to the former UK Prime Minister from 2007-2010, offering his advice on counter-terrorism and intelligence and establishing the UK’s first cyber strategy in 2009. He was also the Director General for Defence & Intelligence for the UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Showing his dedication to security, Robert lived in Belfast for nearly 10 years working on the Northern Ireland Peace Process as Tony Blair’s Service Advisor. It was during his time with GCHQ when Robert launched the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre and launched the active cyber defence program for the UK. For his tenure with the company, he has been praised by former Prime Minister Boris Johnson for transforming the organisation and making it fit for the new digital age. Robert has also been a Special Adviser in Cyber Security for Hiscox and was Chair of the Advisory Board for Immersive Labs.

Currently working as the Chairman for BlueVoyant International, Robert is ensuring the cyber security services firm is remaining at the forefront of its industry by utilising the knowledge he has acquired from both working in the public and private sphere. Robert is also on numerous boards including for LORCA, and is a Senior Fellow for Harvard’s Belfer Centre, Distinguished Fellow for the Royal United Services Institute and a Fellow at the Institute of Engineering and Technology.

In recognition of his revolutionary work within cyber security, Robert is one of a select few non-US nationals to have been awarded the US Intelligence Distinguished Public Service Medal and was awarded the CMG by Queen Elizabeth for his services.
