Sander Schulhoff

Sander Schulhoff is the CEO of Learn Prompting, an AI research lab and e-learning platform dedicated to advancing prompt engineering and AI literacy. He has co-authored award-winning AI research papers with prominent organisations such as OpenAI, ScaleAI, Hugging Face, Stanford University, and Microsoft. Sander has also led AI workshops at Microsoft and OpenAI, training thousands of professionals and organisations, including Deloitte, Meta, and Microsoft.

Sander’s journey into AI began during his studies at the University of Maryland, where he pursued a degree in computer science. In October 2022, he founded Learn Prompting, releasing the first prompt engineering guide on the internet, predating the launch of ChatGPT by a month. This initiative stemmed from his passion for making AI more accessible and understandable to a broader audience. His dedication to AI education led him to collaborate with OpenAI, co-instructing the “ChatGPT for Everyone” course, which has trained over 3 million individuals in prompt engineering.

In 2023, Sander organised HackAPrompt, the largest Generative AI Red Teaming competition ever held, in partnership with OpenAI, ScaleAI, and Hugging Face. The event attracted over 3,300 AI hackers and resulted in the collection of 600,000 malicious prompts, creating the largest prompt injection dataset to date. This dataset has been instrumental for major LLM companies, AI security firms, and government agencies. His subsequent paper on the competition won the Best Theme Paper award at EMNLP 2023, the world’s premier NLP conference, out of 20,000 submissions.
