Nathan Benaich is the founder of Air Street Capital, a leading venture capital firm specialising in early-stage AI-first technology start-ups and life science companies. Boasting an impressive portfolio, he has investments in Allcyte, Athenian, Anagenex, CipDrop, Enveda, Intenseye and Modern Intelligence, among others. An expert on the applications of AI in science, Nathan was recently named on LinkedIn’s Top Voices in AI in 2023. Educated at Williams College, Nathan earned a BA in Biology in 2010, attending the University of Oxford for a year to study Biology between 2008 and 2009. He enrolled at the University of Cambridge in 2010, completing a PhD and MPhil in Computers and Biology as a Gates and Dr Herchel Smith Scholar in 2013. Nathan is currently a Scientist in Residence at Point Nine, an early-stage venture capital fund focused on backing seed-stage B2B SaaS and B2B marketplace entrepreneurs and co-author of State of AI Report, a definitive annual report on AI progress.

In 2021, he founded Spinout.fyi to tackle university spinout creation, beginning with open anonymised data on deal terms. Nathan is also the founder of The Research and Applied AI Summit, a community comprised of leading entrepreneurs and researchers in AI. As a thought leader on AI, Nathan writes the monthly Guide to AI newsletter, which has over 20,000 subscribers and analyses the most important AI technology, research, geopolitics and startups. Moreover, he is a Managing Trustee of The RAAIS Foundation, a UK-registered charity on a mission to advance education and research in AI for the betterment of society. Nathan also offers grants for open-source projects, research and education.

Contributing articles to the Financial Times, Nathan has also published cutting-edge research on experimental and computational approaches to stem the fatal spread of cancer around the body in prestigious scientific journals.
